Members of the RM HOSA chapter had a great time at the 2018 Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) conference held in National Harbor. This was a wonderful opportunity for HOSA members to learn more about health and medical careers in the defense sector as well as connect with various federal healthcare professionals and members of the military to discover more about the work that they are currently doing to improve global health.
Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in HOSA at the club fair! Whether you're set on becoming a health professional or just trying something new, we're so excited to explore medicine with you in the upcoming year!

Here so some information about the responsibilities and commitments of I Can Help Ambassadors: Responsibilities: I Can Help Ambassadors are specially trained to provide world-class customer service to the patients, families, and visitors at Children's National Health System. Ambassadors are a group of enthusiastic, dedicated and team-oriented volunteers who are committed to providing a warm and welcoming environment to everyone who comes through the hospital doors. These volunteers help make the often anxiety-filled hospital experience a little easier for patients and their families. I Can Help Ambassadors provide play activities to patients in the Emergency Department and other waiting areas, deliver flowers and gifts, greet families as they arrive to the hospital, assist with wayfinding, support caregivers’ non-medical needs in outpatient areas, inpatient units, and the cafeteria, play our Children’s National mascot, Dr. Bear, and assist with administrative tasks in the Volunteer Services office and other departments. Commitment: I Can Help Ambassadors are asked to make at least a six-month, 35-hour commitment. Volunteers will be assigned to two 3-hour shifts each month. Shifts are currently available Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., with limited weekend shifts available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. We had a great time at the 2018 HOSA International Conference in June! Daisy Liao and Grace Zhou qualified for the final round in Forensic Medicine, and Ivy Han placed 7th in Human Growth and Development. What an amazing way to end the Richard Montgomery HOSA chapter’s first year. With over 30 competitors at the state level, 27 state titles, and six international competitors, we’re off to an awesome start and we’re so excited for next year!
